Latest Australian and global developments in Battery Electric Trains, Passenger Services and Rail Cultural Tourism
Siemens Mobility has announced the receipt of a major order from the Landesnahverkehrsgesellschaft Niedersachsen (LNVG) and the Regionalverband Großraum Braunschweig (RGB) for a set of battery-powered regional trains (BEMU).
The order will include the delivery of 113 three-car Mireo Plus B trains, as well as a
30-year service package and the construction of two Rail Service Centres in Lower Saxony.

GWR UK took their battery train out on an overnight trip to attempt to travel 200 miles
(320 kilometres) and in doing so,set a new World Record for furthest distance achieved
by a battery train. Their train has been on test now for over a year in real world conditions - cold weather, loaded with passengers, higher speeds.
